Install Watchcric on an iPhone or iPad

The Watchcric app is not in the App Store, and it does not need to be: Safari installs it from the site. Add it to the Home Screen and it gets an icon of its own, opens full screen without Safari's bars, and plays the month's matches with nothing downloaded. Three taps in Safari.

1Open app.watchcric.com in Safari and tap Share

It must be Safari: no other browser on an iPhone can add to the Home Screen. Go to app.watchcric.com, wait for the match list, then tap Share (the square with an arrow pointing up), at the bottom of an iPhone's screen or the top of an iPad's.

2Choose “Add to Home Screen”

Scroll the sheet down past the apps and contacts until Add to Home Screen appears, and tap it.

3Tap Add

The name is filled in already. Tap Add at the top right, and the Watchcric icon takes its place on the Home Screen.

✓Installed

Tap the icon: the match list opens full screen, and a tap on a fixture starts the player. For a television, open a match and mirror it to an Apple TV, or use the set's own browser.

If it goes differently

The Share sheet has no "Add to Home Screen"

The page is open in Chrome, Firefox or another browser, or inside an app such as Instagram or Messages. Copy app.watchcric.com, open Safari, paste it in and tap Share again.

The icon opens with Safari's address bar showing

It was added from somewhere other than Safari itself. Hold the icon, tap Delete Bookmark, then repeat the three steps in Safari; added that way, it opens full screen.

Does the match keep playing when the phone locks?

No; the picture stops when the screen locks, as for any web page. For a long match, set Auto-Lock to Never in Settings, under Display & Brightness, and set it back afterwards.
